Brian’s background includes working as a surveyor for several Approved Inspector organisations before which he honed his skills working at Wycombe District Council where he quickly advanced to Senior Building Control Officer.

John Palmer
Technical Director / Regional Surveyor

John has worked in the construction industry for over 10 years. He started his career within a private Architectural practice, before gaining experience in Project Management and Building Surveying.
John is the Technical Manager of OWL Building Control Solutions, providing research & technical support to our surveying and business support staff.
John completes his Technical Manager role at the Head Office, whilst also managing our Salisbury office.
He has a wealth of experience in a range of roles within the construction industry. This gives him an breadth of knowledge and understanding when considering Building Regulations processes and how to apply them to unique projects.
John takes a keen interest in innovative construction techniques, specifically Modern Methods of Construction, which formed the basis of his Masters of Science at the University of Reading.

Susanne Sopp

Susanne spent more than twenty years in Local Authority Building Control where she worked her way up from a technical support role to that of Senior Building Control Surveyor.
Susanne is a chartered building engineer with a special interest in penetrating and rising damp and how increased levels of thermal insulation can contribute to issues of condensation including the associated need for ventilation of construction elements.
She is:
A member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
Andy Rogers

Andy has worked as a surveyor for more than 30 years for a number of Approved Inspectors and Local Authorities at various levels as well as the MOD.
He is:
A member of the RICS
A member Institute of Fire Engineers.
A member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
Rupert Hanson

Coming from an “on the tools” background Rupert brings a pragmatic approach to achieving building control compliance on site, having undertaken the necessary qualifications to achieve associate level CABE membership he continues to work towards full membership.
Andy Sears

Andy started work in the construction industry as a carpenter and then moved to a housing department of an Oxfordshire council before joining West Berks as a Building Inspector.
He gained a building surveying honours degree and has been a member of the CIOB for 5 years.
James Hegarty

James has worked in the construction industry for over 30 yrs. With an academic background in Architecture and Planning. Notably acting as a delivery agent for the London 2012 Olympics and Design manager on the Greenwich design district. James is currently completing a MSc in Building surveying and enjoys surfing and sailing in his spare time.
Andre Melo e Silva

Andre worked as a lawyer in Brazil before emigrating to New Zealand.
For 15 years he worked in building maintenance, and latterly undertook a degree in Construction Management and went onto qualify as a Building Control Officer for a local District Council in NZ. Now in the UK with his family Andre is an associate member of CABE, and is working towards becoming a qualified Building Surveyor.
Joseph Ewens

After a successful career as a professional rugby player, Joseph studied architectural technology and design at the UWE followed by a postgraduate diploma in building surveying.
He has been actively pursuing a career as a building surveyor for 9 years.
Joseph is keen to see new building techniques and technologies being used to reduce cost, to improve the environmental impact of building works and to bring benefits to the home owners of the future.

I have always been enthusiastic about the building trade and have worked on site the majority of my career, however had been searching for the next step. So, I am looking forward to training with OWL and the challenges ahead.
Paul Molloy

Paul has worked in the Construction industry for over 16 years. He spent 11 years working within a local authority building control framework and also as part of a nationwide building warranty provider.
Paul is enthusiastic about new building products and processes and sharing this knowledge with others.

Adam Riseley

Adam has worked in the construction industry as a general builder for over 10 years. Now he has joined the OWL Building Control Team to gain training to become a building control surveyor.
He is:
A student member of CABE and is undertaking a day-release course at College and working towards full CABE membership.
Dan McKeown

Daniel is engaged upon an Apprenticeship with OWL Building Control.
He is currently completing a Bsc in Building Control at the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) and is a registered student with CABE.
Daniel has recently embarked on a career change after nearly 10 years in the Armed Forces serving within the Royal Military Police.
